Meet Little Eli
There's something especially striking about a Ruby Cavalier, and Eli is a beautiful example! This handsome Cavalier King Charles Spaniel boy is the son of Misty and Riley and has a gorgeous solid chestnut-red coat that gives him his classic Ruby coloring.
Eli is still at the very beginning of his puppyhood, so much of his story has yet to be written. For now, his days revolve around his mom, littermates, lots of rest, and the attentive care he receives here at
Blessed Little Pups.
Over the coming weeks, we'll get to know him in an entirely different way. As he becomes more active and curious, we'll begin seeing the little preferences, habits, and personality traits that make Eli his own special puppy.
We love allowing that personality to develop naturally rather than trying to label a puppy too early. Watching them show us who they are is half the fun!
From Tiny Puppy to Curious Explorer
Those first weeks of life bring an amazing amount of change.
Once Eli is ready to venture beyond the cozy newborn stage, we'll begin giving him opportunities to safely experience more of everyday life. Different sounds, surfaces, activities, people, and routines will gradually become part of his world.
These introductions are kept appropriate for his age and development. Some experiences may seem incredibly ordinary to us, but to a puppy encountering them for the first time, they're brand-new adventures!
Through daily interaction, gentle handling, early socialization, and individual attention, Eli will have opportunities to explore while still enjoying plenty of downtime with his littermates.
Our goal isn't to rush him through puppyhood. It's to make those early experiences positive ones and help prepare him for the much bigger world waiting beyond Blessed Little Pups.
Eli's Training Will Start Before He Heads Home
As Eli approaches 7 weeks old, we'll begin introducing some of the practical skills that can help him get a head start on life with his new family.
His early lessons will include:
- Learning that potty time happens outside
- Getting acquainted with his crate
- Introduction to walking on a leash
- Beginning recall work
- Practicing sit, come, and stay
- Lots of praise and positive reinforcement as he learns
At this age, training is very much a work in progress. We don't expect Eli to head home as a perfectly trained puppy!
Instead, we're giving him an introduction to these concepts and routines so they're already somewhat familiar when his family continues working with him.
Consistency, patience, and plenty of positive reinforcement at home will help turn those first little lessons into lifelong skills.
What Makes a Ruby Cavalier So Beautiful?
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel comes in four recognized color patterns, and Ruby is certainly a showstopper.
Rather than having contrasting markings, a Ruby Cavalier has a rich, solid red coat. As Eli grows and his Cavalier coat begins to mature, we're looking forward to watching that beautiful coloring develop right along with him.
Of course, Cavaliers became treasured companions for reasons that go far beyond their appearance.
This breed has a long history of living closely alongside people, and Cavaliers are widely known for their companion-oriented nature. They tend to enjoy being involved in whatever their families are doing, making them wonderful little dogs for people who want a companion to truly share everyday life with.
They may have a regal history and an elegant appearance, but they're still perfectly happy being someone's little sidekick!
Eli Comes From Health-Tested Parents
Eli's parents, Misty and Riley, are genetically tested and OFA certified.
Health testing our parent dogs is an important part of our breeding program at Blessed Little Pups. It provides valuable information that helps us make thoughtful decisions when planning our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel litters.
That thoughtful approach continues after our puppies arrive.
During Eli's time with us, we'll focus on his health and care while also providing the early interaction, socialization, and experiences that are appropriate for his stage of development.
These first weeks go quickly, but they're incredibly important, and we're grateful to be the ones caring for Eli during them.
A Few Familiar Things for the Journey Home
Leaving everything familiar and settling into a brand-new home is a big change for a little puppy.
When Eli's go-home day arrives, he'll bring along several essentials as well as a few familiar things from his time with us.
His puppy package will include:
- Up-to-date vaccinations and complete health records
- Health guarantee
- Microchip identification
- A blanket carrying familiar scents from his litter
- Starter PawTree premium puppy food
- A favorite toy
- A leash
- Lifetime breeder support from Blessed Little Pups
We want our families to know that we're still here after their puppy leaves.
Questions are bound to come up as a puppy settles into a new routine and continues growing. Lifetime breeder support means Eli's family can continue reaching out to us throughout the years ahead.
The Fun Part Is Just Beginning
Right now, Eli is a little Ruby boy with an entire puppyhood waiting in front of him.
Soon those quiet early days will turn into playing with littermates, investigating toys, practicing his first skills, exploring new things, and finding his own favorite ways to have fun.
And somewhere along the way, we'll start seeing exactly what makes Eli different from every other puppy in the litter.
That's one of the things we love most about raising puppies. Even when they share the same parents and grow up side by side, each one develops into an individual with a story all their own.
We're excited to watch Eli's story begin here at Blessed Little Pups and to see this handsome Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy grow into the beautiful little boy he's meant to be. ❤️
