Our Little Ruby Girl, Ember
Meet Ember, a gorgeous Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel girl from Misty and Riley. Her name seems especially fitting for a little puppy wrapped in such a beautiful, warm red coat!
Ember is spending these first weeks of life here with us at Blessed Little Pups, surrounded by her mom, littermates, and the familiar routines of our home. Right now, growing is a pretty full-time job, with lots of eating, sleeping, snuggling, and gradually becoming more aware of everything happening around her.
Soon enough, we'll start seeing the little things that make Ember herself. Every puppy develops differently, and we love watching their personalities unfold without making assumptions about them too early.
For now, Ember gets to simply enjoy being little.
Building Confidence Through Everyday Experiences
A puppy doesn't need a huge adventure every day for socialization to be meaningful. Sometimes, it's the ordinary experiences that matter most.
As Ember reaches each new developmental stage, her surroundings will gradually become more interesting. She'll be introduced to different sounds, people, textures, surfaces, toys, routines, and age-appropriate activities.
She'll also receive plenty of gentle handling, daily interaction, individual attention, and early socialization throughout her time with us.
We introduce these experiences thoughtfully and at a pace appropriate for a young puppy. There will be opportunities to investigate and explore, but there will also be plenty of time to rest, play with her siblings, and just be a puppy.
Little by little, Ember's world will become much bigger than the cozy place where her story began.
Learning the Basics Before Going Home
By around 7 weeks of age, Ember will be ready to add something new to her routine: her first puppy lessons!
We begin introducing our puppies to several practical skills they'll continue learning with their families, including:
- Beginning to potty outside
- Getting comfortable spending time in a crate
- Introduction to walking on a leash
- Early recall exercises
- Beginning commands such as sit, come, and stay
- Learning with praise and positive reinforcement
These early lessons aren't about sending home a fully trained puppy. Ember will still have lots to learn, and consistency from her new family will be an important part of her continued training.
Instead, we're giving her a chance to become familiar with these routines before everything else in her life changes too.
What's Special About a Ruby Cavalier?
That gorgeous coat deserves a little attention!
Ruby is one of the four recognized Cavalier King Charles Spaniel colors, and its rich, solid red appearance makes it easy to understand why this color has so many admirers.
Unlike Blenheim or Tricolor Cavaliers with their contrasting markings, a Ruby Cavalier's warm red coloring flows across the coat. As Ember grows, we'll get to watch her puppy coat develop into more of that beautiful Cavalier appearance.
But the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has much more behind it than a pretty coat.
Cavaliers have a long history as companion dogs and are known for their close connection with people. They often enjoy being included in daily family life, whether there's something exciting happening or absolutely nothing happening at all.
Sometimes being next to their person is the activity!
A Healthy Start Begins With Her Parents
Long before Ember arrived, we were thinking about the health and future of the puppies we hoped to raise.
Her parents, Misty and Riley, are genetically tested and OFA certified.
Health testing our parent dogs is an important part of our breeding program at Blessed Little Pups.
The information we receive from testing helps us make thoughtful and informed breeding decisions when planning our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel litters.
After our puppies are born, we continue that commitment through attentive daily care and by providing appropriate early experiences as they develop.
For Ember, these first weeks are about creating a loving, positive beginning before she's ready to take everything she's learned here into a home of her own.
A Little Piece of Blessed Little Pups Goes With Her
Moving away from mom, littermates, and everything familiar is a big moment in a puppy's life, so we like sending our puppies home with both practical essentials and a few comforting reminders of where they started.
Ember will bring home:
- Up-to-date vaccinations and complete health records
- Health guarantee
- Microchip identification
- A blanket carrying familiar scents from her litter
- Starter PawTree premium puppy food
- A favorite toy
- A leash
- Lifetime breeder support from Blessed Little Pups
That familiar blanket and food can help provide a little consistency while Ember adjusts to her new routine.
And our support doesn't disappear once she heads home. We're happy to continue being a resource for our families as their puppies grow, learn, and settle into life with the people who love them.
Watching Ember Become Ember
There's something special about looking at a tiny puppy and realizing how much of her story hasn't happened yet.
Ember hasn't chosen her favorite toy. She hasn't shown us which games she'll enjoy most or what funny little habits might eventually make everyone laugh. She hasn't experienced her first training sessions or discovered all the interesting things waiting outside her puppy world.
All of that is still ahead.
Over the coming weeks, we'll have the privilege of watching those little pieces begin to come together as Ember grows from a tiny Ruby girl into a more curious and confident young puppy.
We can't wait to get to know Ember and enjoy all those firsts right alongside her.
For now, this beautiful Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy has one very important job here at
Blessed Little Pups:
Grow, learn, play, and enjoy being little. ❤️
