There's Something Special About Esther

Meet Esther, a beautiful little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel girl from Misty and Riley! Esther has a rich Ruby coat made even more adorable by her cute white markings, giving this little girl a look all her own.

She's still in those precious early weeks when much of the day is devoted to eating, sleeping, growing, and staying close to Mom and her littermates. Here at Blessed Little Pups, we're enjoying this quieter stage while it lasts because puppies certainly don't stay this tiny for long!

As Esther grows, we'll get to see more of the little girl hiding underneath that pretty Ruby coat. Her personality will begin to emerge, her curiosity will grow, and she'll start discovering that there's a whole world beyond her cozy puppy space.

We never want to decide what a puppy's personality will be before they've had the opportunity to show us. Getting to know Esther as an individual will be one of the sweetest parts of the weeks ahead.

Little Experiences That Make a Big Difference

So much of preparing a puppy for family life happens through simple, everyday experiences.

As Esther becomes ready, we'll introduce her to different sounds around the home, new surfaces beneath her paws, toys, people, activities, and changes in her normal routine.

She'll receive gentle handling, daily interaction, early socialization, and individual attention, with each experience introduced at an age-appropriate pace.

There isn't a race to expose her to everything at once. Instead, we want her world to expand naturally as she grows.

One week might be about becoming comfortable with a new sound. Another might bring a fun toy or an unfamiliar surface to explore. Those seemingly small moments add up during an important period of puppy development.

And in between all that learning?

There will still be lots of naps and plenty of time for puppy play!

Adding a Little Learning to Her Day

When Esther is approximately 7 weeks old, we'll begin introducing her to some of the basic routines that will eventually become part of everyday life with her family.

Her first lessons will include:

  • Beginning to learn to potty outside
  • Introduction to crate training
  • Getting comfortable with a leash
  • Early recall exercises
  • Learning the basics of sit, come, and stay
  • Praise and positive reinforcement throughout her training

These first lessons aren't meant to turn Esther into a fully trained puppy before she goes home. At this age, she's only beginning to understand what we're asking of her.

Instead, we want to make those concepts familiar and give her family a starting point they can build upon with patience and consistency.

Ruby With a Little Extra Touch

Esther's coloring is one of the first things you'll notice about her.

Her coat has the warm, rich red coloring associated with a Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, but those sweet white markings add an adorable little touch that makes Esther instantly recognizable.

As she grows, we'll get to watch her puppy coat change and develop right along with the rest of her.

Cavaliers are certainly beautiful dogs, but their history has always been closely connected to companionship. The breed has spent generations living alongside people, and Cavaliers are known for being people-focused dogs that often enjoy being included in everyday family life.

Whether something exciting is happening or it's simply time to relax at home, Cavaliers have a way of wanting to be part of things.

The Important Things Begin Before Birth

There's much more to raising a litter than what happens after the puppies arrive.

Esther's parents, Misty and Riley, are genetically tested and OFA certified.

Health testing our parent dogs is an important part of our breeding program at Blessed Little Pups. It gives us valuable information that helps us make thoughtful, informed decisions when planning our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel litters.

After a puppy is born, our attention turns toward providing the individual care, early experiences, and socialization appropriate for each stage of development.

Esther will spend these first weeks surrounded by the familiar people, puppies, and routines of our home while gradually becoming ready for everything that comes next.

Esther Won't Head Home Empty-Pawed!

When it's finally time for Esther to trade life with her littermates for her new home, we'll make sure she has a few things packed for the adventure.

Esther will go home with:

  • Up-to-date vaccinations and complete health records
  • Health guarantee
  • Microchip identification
  • A blanket carrying familiar scents from her litter
  • Starter PawTree premium puppy food
  • A favorite toy
  • A leash
  • Lifetime breeder support from Blessed Little Pups

We especially love including a blanket with familiar scents because so much about a new home will be unfamiliar at first.

And while most of those items will eventually be outgrown or used up, our lifetime breeder support doesn't expire. We want our families to feel comfortable reaching out as their puppy grows and life together unfolds.

Just the Beginning for Little Esther

There are so many things Esther hasn't experienced yet.

She hasn't discovered which toy will become her favorite. She hasn't begun her first training lessons or explored all the interesting new things she'll encounter as she becomes more mobile. And she hasn't shown us all the funny little quirks that will eventually make everyone say, "That's so Esther!"

Those moments are still coming.

For now, we're happy to let her be little while enjoying the privilege of watching her change from one week to the next.

This beautiful Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel girl with white markings has a whole lot of growing, learning, playing, and exploring ahead of her.

And we can't wait to watch Esther become Esther. ❤️
