Meet Beautiful Little Iris
Say hello to Iris, a beautiful Ruby Cavapoo girl with the sweetest white markings! She's the daughter of Tulip and Yogi Bear and is spending these important first weeks growing up with us at Blessed Little Pups in Goshen, Indiana.
Iris's rich Ruby coloring is beautiful on its own, but those touches of white give her an especially cute and distinctive look. We can't wait to see how her coat and markings develop as she grows.
Right now, Iris is still very young, which means we're only at the beginning of discovering who she'll become. Her personality will reveal itself naturally as she becomes more mobile, curious, and interested in everything happening around her.
There's no need to rush it. For now, she has the very important puppy jobs of eating, sleeping, growing, and enjoying life alongside her mom and littermates!
So Many Firsts Are Waiting for Her
The world looks very different when you're only a few inches tall!
As Iris develops, we'll gradually introduce her to many of the ordinary things that will eventually become part of everyday life. Different sounds, textures, surfaces, toys, people, and routines will all become little opportunities for her to learn.
We believe early socialization is most beneficial when it's thoughtful, positive, and appropriate for a puppy's age.
Iris will receive regular gentle handling and individual attention while also having opportunities to explore and interact with her littermates. We'll continue expanding those experiences as she's ready for them.
There's plenty for her to discover, but there will always be time for puppy naps in between!
Turning Everyday Moments Into Early Lessons
Once Iris reaches approximately 7 weeks old, we'll begin introducing a few basic skills that can help prepare her for her future home.
Her early puppy lessons will include:
- Beginning to understand that potty time happens outside
- Getting familiar with spending time in a crate
- Taking her first steps toward leash walking
- Practicing early recall
- Introduction to sit, come, and stay
- Learning with plenty of praise and positive reinforcement
These are introductions, not mastered behaviors.
At this young age, repetition and consistency are important, and Iris will need her family to continue building on these lessons after she heads home.
Our goal is to make some of those routines a little more familiar before she begins the exciting transition into life with her new family.
A Little About the Cavapoo
Iris is a Cavapoo, combining the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle.
Cavaliers have a long history as companion dogs, while Poodles are known for their intelligence and trainability. The combination has helped make Cavapoos popular with families looking for an affectionate, engaging companion.
Cavapoos are often described as people-oriented, intelligent, playful, and affectionate, although every puppy is an individual. Coat texture, adult size, appearance, and personality can vary depending on the traits inherited from each parent.
That's why we're much more interested in watching Iris develop than trying to predict exactly what she'll be like.
She'll tell us soon enough!
Ruby With a Splash of White
Iris has a lovely Ruby coat accented by adorable white markings, giving her a look that's distinctly her own.
As her puppy coat develops, its texture and overall appearance will continue changing. Watching those transformations is one of the fun parts of these early weeks because puppies can look surprisingly different as they mature.
Her coat will also require regular care as she gets older. Brushing, bathing, nail trims, and professional grooming will become part of keeping Iris comfortable and looking her best.
Gentle handling while she's young can help make those everyday grooming routines more familiar later on.
Tulip ❤️ Yogi Bear
Behind little Iris are her parents, Tulip and Yogi Bear.
Our parent dogs at Blessed Little Pups undergo genetic and OFA health testing, an important part of the thoughtful approach we take when planning our breeding program.
Health testing provides useful information that helps guide our breeding decisions. Once puppies like Iris arrive, our attention turns to their individual care and development.
Over the coming weeks, we'll be there for all those little milestones, from becoming steadier on her paws to exploring new things and beginning her first training exercises.
A Puppy Bag Just for Iris
When Iris is ready to make the transition from our home to hers, she'll have some familiar comforts and useful puppy essentials coming along with her.
Iris will go home with:
- Up-to-date vaccinations and complete health records
- Health guarantee
- Microchip identification
- A blanket carrying familiar scents from her littermates
- Starter PawTree premium puppy food
- A favorite toy
- A leash
- Lifetime breeder support from Blessed Little Pups
Moving into a new home means suddenly encountering different people, smells, sounds, and routines. Sending Iris with familiar items can provide a little bit of continuity while she settles in.
And if her family has questions along the way, we're still here. Our support doesn't end when one of our puppies goes home.
Watching Iris Bloom
A name like Iris seems just right for a little girl who has so much growing ahead of her.
Over the next several weeks, we'll watch her world expand. She'll discover toys, interact more with her siblings, begin learning simple routines, and experience all sorts of puppy firsts.
Most importantly, we'll start getting to know Iris herself.
We're excited to see the personality that emerges as this beautiful Ruby Cavapoo puppy with white markings grows and develops here at Blessed Little Pups.
For now, we'll enjoy every tiny stage because we know just how quickly these little puppies bloom. ❤️
