Introducing Little Lilly
Meet Lilly, a beautiful Red Cavapoo girl from Tulip and Yogi Bear! Her warm red coat is accented with adorable white markings, giving Lilly her own special look among her siblings.
 
She's spending the beginning of her story with us at Blessed Little Pups in Goshen, Indiana, where these first weeks are all about growing and developing. Right now, Lilly's needs are simple: plenty of nourishment, lots of sleep, time with Mom and her littermates, and gentle attention from the people caring for her.
 
It won't stay that way for long!
 
As the weeks pass, we'll watch Lilly become more aware of her surroundings and begin exploring the world on those tiny puppy paws. That's also when we'll start discovering the little characteristics that make Lilly uniquely Lilly.
 
Rather than guessing what her personality will be, we're excited to watch it unfold naturally.
Preparing for Life Beyond the Puppy Pen
 
Before Lilly ever meets her future family, she'll already have experienced quite a few little pieces of everyday life.
 
As she's developmentally ready, we'll introduce her to a variety of sounds, surfaces, people, toys, handling, routines, and age-appropriate activities. These aren't meant to be huge or overwhelming experiences. They're simple opportunities to become familiar with things that may eventually be part of normal family life.
 
Daily interaction is also an important part of Lilly's routine.
 
Gentle handling and individual attention give us opportunities to spend one-on-one time with her, while playing and interacting with her littermates provides an entirely different kind of puppy experience.
 
We want Lilly's early weeks to include a healthy balance of socialization, exploration, play, rest, and lots of time simply being a puppy.
 
A Few Puppy Skills Before Her Next Chapter
As Lilly reaches approximately 7 weeks old, we'll begin introducing her to some basic training concepts.
 
Her first lessons will focus on practical routines that her family can continue working on after she goes home.
 
Lilly will be introduced to:
Going potty outside
Spending time comfortably in a crate
Beginning to walk on a leash
Early recall exercises
Basic commands including sit, come, and stay
Learning through positive reinforcement and praise
 
We consider this a head start rather than finished training.
 
Young puppies learn through repetition, consistency, and plenty of patience. Lilly will still need continued training once she's home, but having some familiarity with these concepts can give her family a helpful foundation to build upon.
 
Two Breeds Come Together in the Cavapoo
 
Part of what makes a Cavapoo so interesting is the combination behind the breed.
 
The Cavapoo combines the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle, two breeds with different histories and characteristics. Cavaliers were developed as companion dogs and have long been associated with close companionship, while Poodles are particularly well known for their intelligence and trainability.
 
Cavapoos are often loved for their affectionate, intelligent, playful, and people-focused nature.
Of course, being a Cavapoo doesn't tell us exactly what Lilly's personality will be. Puppies can inherit different combinations of traits from their parents, and each puppy develops as an individual.
 
That's why we're happy to let Lilly show us who she is as she grows.
Red, White & Absolutely Adorable
 
One thing that already makes Lilly stand out is her coloring.
 
She has a beautiful red coat paired with sweet white markings, creating an adorable contrast that gives her an individual look.
 
Her coat will continue changing and developing as she grows, and its texture may evolve as her puppy coat matures. Regular coat care will become part of Lilly's routine throughout her life, including brushing, bathing, nail care, and professional grooming as needed.
 
We begin with something much simpler: getting her accustomed to being gently handled.
Those small experiences with having her paws, ears, and body touched can help make future grooming and everyday care feel a little more familiar.

Lilly is the daughter of Tulip and Yogi Bear, and thoughtful planning began before she ever arrived.

Once puppies are born, each one becomes our focus as an individual.
